Like a twist ice cream cone, chocolate + vanilla swirl frosting cupcakes give you the best of both worlds!
I’m normally not a huge fan of chocolate cupcakes, but I went with it for these. The base is a rich cocoa with coffee added to enhance the chocolate flavor. The result is a deep chocolate flavor.
These cupcakes are so light and fluffy, but don’t compromise taste.
Swirl frosting is so fun! This was my first time playing around with this concept. I watched a YouTube video for a general idea, but here are a couple of the more interesting highlights.
Spread your buttercream on sheet of plastic wrap and smooth it out. Fold your frosting on top of each other. Pinch the ends of the plastic.
Once you have your tube of frosting in plastic wrap, fish it through a piping bag and frosting tip. I closed up the end to make sure things stayed in place.
Chocolate + vanilla deliciousness
As someone who prefers funfetti cupcakes, these were actually really good. The vanilla and chocolate frosting totally gave me swirl ice cream cone vibes. Not to mention, they are showstopper status in terms of looks.
